Song Screenings

Get your foot inside the music industry door!  As a member of WCS, you have the opportunity to play your finished or unfinished piece for prominent publishers, producers and recording industry representatives in search of outstanding material and musicians. And, should you not get your song picked up this time around, it is a great opportunity to become better acquainted with industry needs and requirements for the next screening.

• Songs will be played in the order they are submitted.
• $5 cover charge .
• Non-Members are welcome, but only WCS members may submit songs.  However, should you wish to join at the door, you will be able to participate the same evening.
• Submit one song per person on CD with a typed lyric sheet showing member’s name/address/phone attached to back with a rubber band.
• The deadline for CD submission is the sign-up closing time as stated for each location.
• All songs are played in the room, with the music industry guest critiquing each song so that everyone can hear each song and his/her comments.
• If interested, the guest will pick up the song for further consideration.
• PLEASE NOTE:  Song Screenings are open to WCS Members Only.  SIgn Up Now and enjoy the priveleges.

WCS HOLLYWOOD SONG SCREENINGS!
What is it? An opportunity to pitch your music to Publishers, Song Shoppers and Music Supervisors (depending on who's joining us)...in a relaxed, supportive setting...
Further event specifics will go out to "Yes" RSVP list closer to the date.  **Limited space. Pre-event sign-up required.**

CD Mail-In Service

• If you are unable to attend any monthly songscreening, you may mail in one song for that month’s screening series as long as it is received by the 15th of the month.
• CDs will not be returned,
• You will receive a Publisher’s Response form giving you written feedback on your song.
• Please include a $5 check and a SASE.
• On the outside of the envelope, write the guest screener’s  name.
• Mail your CD and lyric sheet (one song only) plus your $5 fee (please NO cash!) to WCS, 1724 Laurel Street, Suite #120, San Carlos, CA  94070.

Works in Progress

Geared towards our "Best Song" winners - past and current - but open to a limited # of members per gathering, we will be hosting advanced songwriter "Work In Progress" evenings in 2011 for the Hollywood Chapter.

***General Details For WCS Hollywood Showcase + Events:

1) Each Genghis Cohen showcase event will be a "1 song" night - EXCEPT past "Best Song" winners from the 2011/2012 Season will have the opportunity to reserve 2 line-up slots; performing TWO SONGS. 5 minute slot limit. We are confirmed with Genghis Cohen for the entire 2011/12 season: 7pm-8:45 set slot (2011/12 will be SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH @ Genghis Cohen). THIS SEASON: SHOWCASE "BEST SONG" WINNERS WIN 2 HOURS FREE STUDIO TIME -- TO DEMO EITHER THEIR WINNING SONG OR RECORD INST/VOCAL FOR A NEW TUNE.

2) "Best Song" winners from the 2011/12 Season with 2 Winning Songs over the course of the season (eligible to win for Best Song 1x per showcase each 3 months) - will be eligible to compete to go on to the Finals with BOTH songs at the Playoff event in July 2012@ Genghis Cohen. Winners of the Playoffs go on to the Grand Finals up in Berkeley, competing against all 16 other WCS Chapters (we extend up into Oregon) for a chance to play at the Sunset Concert @ the WCS September 2012 Conference --- to a concert hall FULL of industry vets, award-winning pros + active songwriters, publishers and producers from all over the U.S.

3) Geared towards our "Best Song" winners - past and current - but open to a limited # of members per gathering, we will be hosting advanced songwriter "Work In Progress" afternoons in 2011/12 for the Hollywood Chapter coordinated by our volunteer Works In Progress manager, Pat Nicholson.

4) We have re-introduced the Hollywood Song Screenings...please look for further details in upcoming blasts!

5) New this season at WCS Hollywood: Acoustic BANDS and DUETS WELCOME!!...if you're in a band or duet and your song is WRITTEN by a WCS Member...you are welcome to play + compete at our monthly Genghis Cohen Competitions!

6) Please make sure you're set with current membership this season. Non-members are ineligible to win for "Best Song"...

7) If you are confirmed for a roster slot and are unable to perform for any reason, as a courtesy to your fellow songwriters, advance notice is MANDATORY so that back-up performers who wish to play may be notified.
