Bio - Mason Cooper, president of Songrunner Entertainment, brings a multifaceted background to his services as a Music Supervisor. With over two decades experience as a music publisher, music supervisor and songwriter/producer, he has represented the catalogues and talent of Bernie Taupin, John Lennon, Jim Croce, George Michael, Rick Wakeman, and Stevie Wonder, and has written and produced music for television and film, including the themes to CBS’s Major Dad, FOX’s Glory Days and NBC’s Sister Kate. As a Music Supervisor, Cooper brings his creativity and legal/business affairs training to his projects, which include: Warner’s DVD release of the series “Witchblade,” MGM’s feature films “All’s Faire in Love” (starring Christina Ricci, Cedric the Entertainer) and “Deal” (starring Burt Reynolds, Jennifer Tilley), Sony’s “The Prince and The Pauper” (starring Dylan and Cole Sprouse), Phase 4 Film’s “Lucky” (starring Colin Hanks, Ann-Margret), the Sean Faris action film “Freerunner” and the recently completed Dennis Quaid thriller “Beneath The Darkness.” Cooper’s current projects include “Raging Bull II,” a supernatural thriller “The Blessing” (starring Milo Ventigmila) and a prison/redemption drama “Jamesy Boy” (starring James Woods and Ving Rhames). In addition to music supervising his films, Cooper’s creativity also helps him directly fulfill his projects’ music needs, including writing or producing music with Dennis Quaid, Kay Panabaker, Christopher Massey, Bret Michaels and Weezer’s Brian Bell. >Specific projects needs:
>Project 1: based on a true story, drama about a teen that ended up in prison for juvenile crimes, and learns about redemption and what it means to have a dream. Song needs: urban folk (not country) songs ala the artist Citizen Cope (sample his songs “Lifeline,” “Penitentiary,” “Holdin’ On”) - and general vibey hiphop ala Naz and Lil Wayne. (*primary needs are the songs like Citizen Cope styles).
Project 2: documentary about meeting people in person in our internet social network world. Song needs: ala Oasis “Who Feels Love” (match modern pop style and theme about feeling love and spirit)
Project 3: film about the real life character we learned about in another classic film. Songs with a sensibility of some classic rock from the 1960’s/70’s/80’s – doesn’t have to be from that era, but in the style... Ala Creedence Clearwater Revival, Rolling Stones, etc. Cool and hip tunes.
General upcoming needs:
Old standards blues – ala Billie Holiday, Louie Jordan, etc. - with recorded versions in the classic stylings;
General blues songs (from Lightnin’ Hopkins to Bonnie Raitt styles)
