STEVE MEMEL Workshop on Sunday, June 1st- at Fort Mason Steven Memel will give a performance workshop on Sunday, June 1st at 11AM at Fort Mason Building C room 210. Cost for the class is $50 for WCS Members and $60 for non-members. He will begin with a seminar and follow up with performance critiques to show ways of drastically improving your performance skills. Steven Memel is an internationally acclaimed vocal technique and performance coach. His clients have won Grammies, Emmys, and Tony Awards and have been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globes. His clients have also recorded on Sony, BMG, Jive, Epic, J Records, DreamWorks, A&M, Atlantic, Warner Bros. and more. Steven has also lectured and taught at various conferences and institutions, including TAXI Road Rally, Independent Music Conference - Philadelphia, Nashville Music Conference, Bermuda Songwriters Association, West Coast Songwriters Conference, SongsAlive, Musician’s Institute, UCLA, USC and numerous international programs. PAT PATTISON - Phrasing: The Body Language of Your Song - July 19/20 Phrasing: The Body Language of Your Song. This seminar will give you important keys to phrasing your lyrics for the most impact and support of meaning. We'll work with rhythms and placements, making sure that the line, like body language, helps to really deliver the emotion you intend. This is a "can't miss" seminar -- it's bound to take your writing to the next level. Pat Pattison is a Professor at Berklee College of Music, where he teaches Lyric- Writing and Poetry. In addition to his three books, “Writing Better Lyrics,” “The Essential Guide to Lyric Form and Structure,” and “The Essential Guide to Rhyming,” Pat has developed three online lyric-writing courses for Berklee's online school, available through patpattison.com. STEVE SESKIN Critique Class Steve Seskin will present a monthly critique class, from 7pm-10pm at his home in Richmond , CA starting on NEXT DATE TBA. Cost for the six classes is $250. Steve is a successful songwriter who has written seven number one songs, including Grammy-nominated “Grown Men Don’t Cry," recorded by Tim McGraw, and “Don’t Laugh at Me," winner of NSAI Song of the Year and Music Row Magazine Song of the Year in 1999 as recorded by Mark Wills. His other #1 hits are “No Doubt About It" and “For a Change," both recorded by Neal McCoy, “No Man’s Land" and “If You’ve Got Love," both recorded by John Michael Montgomery, and “Daddy’s Money," recorded by Ricochet. Other chart toppers include “I Think About You," recorded by Colin Raye, and “All I Need To Know" recorded by Kenny Chesney. The video for Raye’s “I Think About You" single was named the Academy of Country Music’s Video of the Year in 1997, and the song and video were also given an award by the Tennessee Task Force Against Domestic Violence. Recent recordings of his songs include “Pictures," by John Michael Montgomery, “We Shook Hands," by Tebey, and “I’ll Always Be There For You," by Brian McComas. While Steve is best known for writing hits, he is also a successful performer and recording artist. He is currently touring in support of his latest CD, An Original. This is his 16th recording, released on his own record label. “Don’t Laugh at Me" was recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary and became the impetus for the Operation Respect/Don’t Laugh at Me project, a curriculum designed to teach tolerance in schools. This program has already been implemented in more than 20,000 schools across the country. Steve now enjoys performing at school assemblies in support of this program.
