Beth Shackne will screen songs in San Carlos and San Francisco on May 26th & 27th respectively (LA see below).

Beth Shackne from Shack Attack Songs, Nashville will screen songs in San Carlos and San Francisco on May 26th & 27th respectively.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Beth Schackne has called Nashville, Tennessee her home since April 1998. Schackne currently works as an independent song plugger, pitching songs written by top hit songwriters and artists in and outside of the Nashville area, to get these songs placed with major recording artists and with film, television and other outlets.

Prior to striking out on her own, Schackne was tapped to head up the creative division of a relatively new publishing company in Nashville. In the short time she was there, Schackne secured a few major song cuts that are due to be released in 2008, including the title track to George Strait’s new album, TROUBADOUR.

Schackne’s foray into song plugging began during her seven-year stint at Vector Management, where she created an opportunity to pitch John Hiatt’s catalog, resulting in a Keith Urban cut, SLOW TURNING. From 2000 to 2007, Schackne worked side-by-side with Ken Levitan, President of Vector Management and Vector Recordings. In addition to helping Levitan with daily artist management of Vector’s diverse roster, including Emmylou Harris, John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett, Michael McDonald, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jonny Lang, Trace Adkins, Trisha Yearwood and many more, Schackne had the opportunity to work on projects with Combustion Music, assisting with the production of film soundtracks, namely AUTO FOCUS, Music From and Inspired By WE WERE SOLDIERS and the soundtrack for independent film KISSING JESSICA STEIN. In 2006, Schackne helped create the Cracker Barrel SONGS OF THE YEAR CD compilation, which also led to a follow-up concert taped live at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center that continues to air on Great American Country.

Upon moving to Nashville, Schackne landed numerous temporary job assignments with music industry companies: MCA Records, Fitzgerald Hartley Management, Giant Records, Garth Brooks Management, William Morris Agency and more.

When asked how she feels as her ten-year anniversary in Music City draws near, Schackne states, “I don’t know if I could have been more blessed with the incredible opportunities that have come my way and the amazing talent with whom I’ve been privileged to work. From the mentors who were my employers to the interns and office staff I hired, they all became a great inspiration to me. I hope I continue to be inspired each and every day by the power of a great song and I hope I can pass along that inspiration to the younger generation coming up in the business.”
