Daniel Work

Getting to know all our managers!  Please meet Daniel Work, our PNW Manager...Best of luck this weekend with the PNW MUSIC EXPO!  Wish we could all be there.

How did you get your start?

I joined a band at age 17 with some really old guys (like 30 year olds) and one of them even had a kid; man was I young.

Who are your major influences?

Paul McCartney, 70/80 hits, Beatles, Manhatten Transfer, Marc Cohn, Supertramp and so many others...

What sparks your passion to write?

The idea of creating something that didn't exist, that hopefully can take someone to a place they didn't expect to go, like cheering them up, or feeling an emotion they've forgotten.

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

Paul McCartney

Where do you find the best place to write your songs, at home, restaurant, coffee house etc…?

Absolute quiet (anywhere)

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

A few songs in TV/FILM, two more CDs released and playing steady, larger festivals with my group "Walk in the Rain"

What made you join WCS?

Like minded people, trying to help each other out to grow creatively and professionally

What made you decide to become Manager of the Portland Chapter and How have you grown the Chapter?

I saw a lack of professional growth organizations for songwriters when I moved to Portland in 2005, so I started a WCS chapter to fill the void.

Anything else you’d like to add?

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, and go write something way out of your "box".
